Timberline Church in Windsor was recognized at a recent Windsor-Severance Re-4 School District school board meeting as a champion in education for its contribution to the Weld Re-4 Educational Foundation to help support students and staff within the school district.
Timberline Church, located at 360 Crossroads Boulevard in Water Valley South, donated $1,000 and the money was allocated to classroom projects.
According to Kim Schutt, vice president of the Foundation's board of directors, Timberline Church was one of the first donors to the Foundation, with its $1,000 donation.
"(Timberline) Pastor Reza Zadeh is very enthusiastic in supporting what we as a Foundation are doing to try to help provide funding for the schools and offered to work with the Foundation in other ways in the future to do fundraising," Schutt said. "The presentation was an opportunity to publicly thank Timberline for its support of the Foundation, as well as the other many ways in which the church supports our schools."
Schutt said Timberline Church has done more than donate money to the Foundation.
"It provides the volunteers to stuff the backpacks with food that go home with students at some of the elementary schools on weekends (through the project funded by the Windsor Community Foundation)," Schutt said. "Many of the schools in the district have a local church who partners with them to support needs within the schools, and Timberline does that for Mountain View Elementary School. It has provided funds for kids whose families are facing financial problems by providing money for their lunch accounts and clothing."
Schutt said the donation was made by Timberline Church last fall and provided much of the funding for small teacher grants.
"It went to things such as the early reader materials at Range View Elementary (in Severance), the incubator for the first-grade science units at Tozer Primary, some STEM materials at Skyview Elementary, etc."
