GOOD FOR YOU: Two-time defending state champion Wizards keep rolling along

The Windsor High School wrestling team just keeps rolling along.

The Wizards, two-time Class 4A defending state champions, kept their dual streak alive at an incredible 47 when they went 5-0 at the Colfax Duals on Jan. 4-5 in Denver. As a result, the Wizards were crowned the 2013 Colfax Smackdown Champions.

Windsor competed against several standout high schools, including Coronado High School, which is ranked No. 3 in Class 5A. Scores for Windsor included 53-20 over Fort Lupton, 34-30 over Coronado, 54-18 over Cherry Creek, 63-12 over Prairie View and 78-6 over Ridgeview Academy. 

The Wizards had nine wrestlers move on to compete in the individual tournament and placed all nine including: 106 pounds — Josh Villa 2nd, 113 — Joel Salomon 1st, 152 — Kennen Lanteri 2nd, 160 — Vinny Gonzales 1st, 170 — Joe Keller 2nd, 182 — Cosme Martinez 1st, 195 — Brandon Brauser 1st, 220 — Zak Kaderka 3rd and 285 — Robert Bishop-Cotner 2nd.

The Wizards traveled to Texas this weekend to compete at the Lonestar Duals in Dallas. The Wizards faced some of the toughest schools in Texas.
