GOOD FOR YOU: Windsor police officers receive promotions; four local hoopsters advance to state competition

Windsor police Chief John Michaels promoted five of his police officers last month in a promotional ceremony at the police department.
Congratulations go to Sgt. Jerry Selzer, Sgt. Rick Klimek and Sgt. Rich Higuera on their promotions to lieutenant. Cpl. Gerald Beers and Cpl. Robert Shainline were promoted to sergeant.
According to a news release from the town of Windsor, the promotions reflect their job assignments, duties and responsibilities.

A Windsor boy, two girls from Windsor and one girl from Severance were winners in the Denver Nuggets Basketball Skills Challenge sectional round, and they will advance to the state competition in Denver on March 9.
The state competition will be on the same day as the Nuggets-Minnesota Timberwolves game, and the winners from the Windsor sectional round receive a Nuggets Skills Challenge T-shirt, gift bag and four tickets to the Nuggets’ game. Winners in the state competition will be recognized during the game.
Reece Johnson of Windsor won the boys age group of 11-12, while Delaney Matkin of Severance (7-8), Sophie Hadad of Windsor (11-12) and Kali Kelley of Windsor (13-14) won in their age groups.
The four local hoopsters competed against kids from Fort Collins, Sterling, Wray, Eaton, Severance and Windsor. The competition was hosted by the Windsor Parks, Recreation and Culture Department, and was held Feb. 10 at the Windsor Community Recreation Center.
A news release from the town of Windsor said the Denver Nuggets Basketball Skills Challenge is a basketball competition that allows kids to showcase their skills in dribbling, passing and shooting. The youth program is part of the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association and the Nuggets with support from Arby’s and Conoco.
