Karen Trusler receives special award in education
August 16, 2012
Windsor-Severance Re-4 School District superintendent Karen Trusler was honored as the recipient of the Women of Distinction 2012 winner in education at the Northern Colorado Business Report Women of Distinction Annual Breakfast at Embassy Suites in Loveland on Wednesday.
It was the fourth year that the Northern Colorado Business Report honored outstanding women in several fields. Nancy Patton from Public Service Credit Union in Windsor was honored in the banking and finance field.
Nominations were sent in the spring for volunteer, nonprofit human services, nonprofit creative services, banking, business services, government, real estate, health care, education and leading lady.
Trusler, 58, who is starting her seventh year as superintendent, was nominated by a group of business people, board members, staff and a nonprofit board. More than 100 women were nominated.
What a nice surprise this has been.

“What a nice surprise this has been,” Trusler said. “I am honored and humbled by the people who nominated me and by the acknowledgement of this award as a northern Colorado woman of distinction. I am only as good as the people who surround me, and I am surrounded by the best.”
