OBIT: Harold Schmidt

Harold Schmidt, 88, passed away Nov. 26.
Harold was born Nov. 28, 1924, in Loveland to Conrad and Mollie (Brehm) Schmidt. Shortly after graduating from Timnath High School in 1943, he joined the Army Air Force and was honorably discharged on Nov. 4, 1946.
Harold met and married Ruth Haas in 1947. Together they farmed and raised their children in the Larimer County area. Harold was a prominent farmer and cattle feeder for many year until retiring in 1981. The farmer was an avid fisherman and polka dancer, too. He received great pleasure from spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion and also a life-time member of Faith United Church of Christ.
Harold is survived by his wife Ruth, son Steve (Karen) Schmidt of Windsor, son Robert of Windsor, and daughter Nancy (Bill) Freas of Longmont; grandchildren Lana (Tom) St. John of Highlands Ranch, Susan Schmidt of Windsor, Chad (Michelle) Schmidt of Milliken, Peter Freas of Northglenn and Andrew Freas of Longmont; great-grandchildren Michael Schmidt of Windsor, and Tommy and Alyssa St. John of Highlands Ranch; brother Joseph Schmidt of Loveland, sisters Elnora Troudt and Betty Curtis of Fort Collins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents and brother Elmer Schmidt and sister Marion Rein, both of Fort Collins.
Services will be held on Tues., Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at Faith United Church of Christ, 1020 Walnut St., Windsor. Visitation will be held prior to the services.
