Esther Kurtz, 95, of Windsor passed peacefully away May 5, 2015, at home.

She was born Feb. 4, 1920, to Fred and Lydia (Brunz) Miller in Fort Collins.

She was the eldest of five children. Next to the oldest were Helen Guffey (deceased), Irma Jordan (deceased), Ben Miller (deceased) and Aldine Winick (living).

She spent her entire life in northern Colorado, living in Johnstown, Loveland and Windsor.

Esther was an outstanding student and attended school in Fort Collins until 11th grade. She was very proud of her perfect attendance.

She married Helmut Kurtz on Jan. 4, 1942, in Fort Collins at Trinity Lutheran Church. The weather was 41 below zero at the German Dutchhop wedding reception.

She was a very proud farm wife and homemaker. Esther worked at Spring Creek Plaza in Fort Collins and at the Windsor Library.

She also took great pride in taking care of her grandchildren.

Esther's hobbies included "going up the hill," reading and studying her Bible. She loved spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, reading books and loved taking her naps at 1 p.m. every afternoon.

Esther was a devout Christian who loved the Lord.

Esther is survived by her children, Bud (Donna) Kurtz of Greeley, Lynda (Gordon) Kaser of San Jose, Calif., and Mayo (Randy) Honstein of Windsor; grandchildren, Terri Kurtz, Jilliyn Johnson, Erich Ehrlich, Allyson Tator, Maylin Smith and Brad Honstein; and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Helmut Kurtz.
