One person died early Wednesday evening after crashing a vehicle into the Greeley sign at U.S. 34 and Colo. 257.
Greeley police responded to the crash at 5:30 p.m., but they were unable to get much details on the name of the victim or the cause of the crash.
Greeley Police Lt. Scott Smith reported the car was traveling east on U.S. 34 and slammed into the Greeley sign. Smith said the driver was the only occupant of the vehicle, and it appeared there were no other cars involved. Smith said he had few other details until officers could investigate further.
This is the 28th person to die on Weld County roads this year, compared to 29 at the same time last year.
