Weld County sheriff's deputies rescued a young bald eagle Thursday that apparently had a broken wing. Deputies were called to Colo. 52 and Weld County Road 7, about three miles west of Frederick about 3 p.m. A resident found the bird in the westbound lanes of traffic on Colo. 52 and called deputies, Weld County Sheriff's Office spokesman Cpl. Sean Standridge said. Deputies rescued the bird and called the Colorado Division of Wildlife, which transported the bird to Birds of Prey, a Broomfield-based sanctuary.
