Senior Resource Services receive $50,000 grant to improve transportation services for Weld County seniors

Senior Resource Services has received a $50,000 Daniels Fund grant to support its Senior Transportation Program, officials announced Thursday in a news release.

The group's mission is to offer seniors the opportunity to maintain their physical, emotional and mental health while living independently. Through its volunteer-driven program, Senior Resource Services offers Weld seniors 60 years of age and older transportation free of charge, regardless of income. Last year, 10,877 rides were provided, the release stated.

The Daniels Fund, established by cable television pioneer Bill Daniels, is a private charitable foundation dedicated to making life better for the people of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming through its grants program, scholarship program, and ethics initiative.
