Town of Severance moves into new town hall
July 12, 2014
The town of Severance's new town hall opened for business June 30.
The town's move to its new location at 3 S. Timber Ridge Parkway. was necessitated by a lack of space in the town's old town hall, an old farmhouse located two blocks east of the new building, Town Manager John Holdren said.
"It's great. Everybody so far think it's really nice," Holdren said. "We had a need for more space and more room, and this was an opportunity we didn't think we could pass up."
The new town hall used to be Colorado Community Bank before it was closed last June. Holdren said the town negotiated a deal with the bank in August to purchase the building for $510,000.
Holdren said the building was remodeled to include a meeting room for members of the town board, local homeowners associations and other community groups that may want to use the space. With the addition, the building is about 6,000 square feet, Holdren said.
He said the town plans to use the new space well into the future, and the space can be expanded in the future, if needed.
"It also puts us and the fire department together to make a civic area here," Holdren said. "The town board and all the employees are very happy with the way things have turned out and we're looking forward to serving the community for many years to come."
