Town of Windsor Museum receives Poudre Heritage Alliance grant

Town of Windsor Director of Parks, Recreation & Culture Melissa Chew explains Feb. 20 how a $19,000 grant from the Poudre Heritage Alliance will help the Town of Windsor Museum re-design its “Discovering Windsor: A Look Back, A Leap Forward” exhibit in Boardwalk Park.

A $19,000 grant from the Poudre Heritage Alliance will help the Town of Windsor Museum redesign its "Discovering Windsor: A Look Back, A Leap Forward" exhibit in Boardwalk Park.

The Town of Windsor Museum announced the award of the grant from the Poudre Heritage Alliance during a presentation Feb. 20 at the museum.

The exhibit allows the museum to bring Windsor's history to new audiences with new technologies, interactive activities, and an investigation of the past, according to Manager of Arts & Heritage Carrie Knight.

"We decided to do an exhibit re-design of our spaces over at Boardwalk Park with the idea that we can increase our interpretation and connect them more intimately with our collections," Knight said. "We also wanted our spaces to be more accessible to our guests and meet a wide variety of learning styles."

She said the grant will allow for increased technology at the exhibit and increased lab and classroom space to accommodate school groups more easily. The exhibit will illustrate overarching themes of early settlement, women's history and construction history, she said.

The free exhibit will open to visitors May 30.

The Town of Windsor Museum at Boardwalk Park is open from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday-Sunday. For more information, visit http://www.windsorgov.com/artandheritage or on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/windsormuseum/.
