Weld County Commissioners appear on TV to discuss local issues

Staff reports

Three Weld County commissioners were interviewed in upcoming episodes of "Joy in Our Town."

Commissioners Barbara Kirkmeyer, Sean Conway and Julie Cozad will be featured on the 30-minute television show, which interviews community leaders about local issues.

Commissioner Chair Kirkmeyer discussed how fluctuations in the oil and gas industry may impact Weld County government's budget.

"It is important to remind Weld County residents we have dealt with oil and gas price changes in the past," Kirkmeyer said in a news release. "Weld County Government plans for these types of fluctuations by not increasing government and allocating money for a contingency fund."

Conway talked about the Weld County Road 49 Project. Because drivers have used this road as an alternate to the congestion on Interstate 25 and U.S. 85, Weld 49 will receive traffic flow and safety improvements.

Episodes with commissioners Kirkmeyer, Conway and Cozad will air in June on KPJR-TV channel 38 in the Greeley area and Weld County Comcast Cable channel 230.
