The Weld County Fair is taking free entries for the fair contests through June 30. This year, each exhibitor can register each crop or flower in a general class.

The new process allows exhibitors to wait until the morning of check-in, July 28, to choose the best crops and flowers to enter in the fair.

Other "open class" departments exhibitors can enter include baking; cake decorating; ceramics, pottery, china and porcelain painting; sewing; fiber arts; fine arts and crafts; Food preservations; furniture and woodworking; handspun yarn and weaving; hand stitchery; home d├ęcor; photography; and quilts. Entries received by June 30 are free. Exhibitors may submit up to 15 entries.

The Weld County Fair will start July 22 at Island Grove Regional Park, 501 N. 14th Ave. The fair runs through July 31. Admission is free.
