Weld FSA searching for producers to serve on the local county committee

Weld County Farm Service Agency is searching for producers to serve on its local county committee, according to a news release.

County committee elections are held annually in every county, and each year, FSA accepts nominations for a local administrative area. This year, the nominations will come from the administrative area that covers the central portion of Weld County from Gilcrest to Pierce. A map of the boundaries is available at the FSA Greeley Service Center, located at 4302 9th St. Road.

Those who farm in the area can nominate themselves or another producer to serve on the FSA County Committee, which is composed of three members who serve three-year terms.

County committees are unique to FSA and serve as a direct link between agricultural communities across the country and the United States Department of Agriculture, the release stated. Producers who serve on committees help decide the kinds of programs their counties will offer and work to make FSA agricultural programs serve the needs of local producers, according to the news release.

Nominations can be obtained from Greeley's FSA office, 4302 9th St. Road, and must be completed before Aug. 1.
