Trevor Timmons, fourth year.
The Windsor Wizards boys swimming and diving team finished third in its conference at 14th at state with a record of 3-2 in duals and 2-0 in triangulars.
The team broke several school records last year: 500 Freestyle (Riley Miller), 100 Butterfly (Colby Horton), and 200 Medley Relay (Miller, Hansbury, Ethan Hansbury and Garrett Ludwick).
Colby Horton, junior, is the defending conference champion in the 100 Backstroke and school record holder in the 100 butterfly. Riley Miller, sophomore, set the school record in the 500 freestyle and was second place at conference last year. Ethan Hansbury, junior, 100 breaststroke, has a good likelihood of breaking the school record in this event, Timmons said.
Seniors Garrett Ludwick and Jeff Borrett are strong 50 and 100 Freestylers.
Riley Miller, sophmore, Ethan Hansbury, junior, Colby Horton, junior, and Garrett Ludwick, senior, set the school record for the 200 medley relay team last year and are all returning.
This year the team has several strong newcomers including: Josh Dodrill, freshman — 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly; Caiden Peterson, freshman — 100 breaststroke; and Erik Caffee, junior — diving.
With several returning school record holders and the addition of a strong freshman class Timmons believes the team should have a good season.
"It wouldn't be out of the question to break six or seven school records out of the eight individual swimming events," he said. "The team could make a good push for the relay records too — especially the 200 medley relay."
With a strong team, Timmons expects Windsor will measure up well against other teams in the conference and hopefully improve on last year's finishes at conference and state.
Additionally, this year's team is bigger than Windsor has had in the recent past, he said. That helped create solid depth across the entire team.
