COACH:

Doug Hammond and Kenny Anderson are tag-teaming coaching the girls golf team this year, filling in for the previous coach. Hammond and Anderson coach the boys golf team, which Hammond has coached for seven years.

THIS PAST SEASON:

This past year, the team performed very well, winning its conference, regionals and making it to state. Many of this past year's players are returning this season, adding to the team's young roster.

"Last year was a learning year, but I feel this season the girls have reached that point where they're more comfortable," Hammond said.

KEY PLAYERS:

Jessica Zapf, sophomore; Kinsey Smith, sophomore; Jayden Muro; junior.

SEASON OUTLOOK:

"This season is going to be great," Hammond said.

The team already has played several tournaments, most recently coming in second place. Hammond said he feels confident about the team's season but sees regionals as the real challenge.

"Regionals are one day and you either make it or don't," he said. "The pressure of one day is a tough feeling and it can weigh on you."

With state, Hammond said it's a matter of just getting there.

"The goal is to not press so much and just play well," he added.
