Question — What's up on Colo. 257 by the intersection with Colo. 392? I've seen a lot of what looked like road work but wasn't sure why it was happening.

Answer — Two projects have been underway for the past week near that intersection, including general road improvements and preparation for more work on the road, according to the town of Windsor's engineering department.

On the north side of Colo. 392 on Colo. 257, also called Hollister Lake Road, the town of Windsor is working to repair and improve the surface of the road with what the town calls an asphalt overlay project. They essentially give the road a new layer of asphalt.

The work on the south side of Colo. 392 on Colo. 257 has been utility work. Crew have been prepping the road for a roundabout that will be built at the location to provide access to East Pointe, the commercial area on the southeast side of the intersection currently under construction.

The roundabout will also be connected to the cemetery on the west side of the road.

The East Pointe commercial development, which is expected to include a Human Bean and Kum & Go gas station, will be under construction throughout the summer, and the roundabout construction is expected to begin in May, said Chris Ruff, a developer working on the project.

It will mean more road closures on Colo. 257, and residents will have to take a detour around that section of the road near the intersection with Colo. 392. Ruff said a map of the detour route will be available when an exact start date for construction on the roundabout is set.
