Action Line: When lights go out
January 24, 2018
Answer – Streetlights in Windsor are maintained Xcel Energy and Poudre Valley REA. They are not maintained by the town.
The public works department hears a lot of requests to fix streetlights, said Street Supervisor Brian Rowe, especially this time of year when the days are shorter.
Although Rowe and other public works employees try to help residents whenever they can, they have plenty to do without the addition of something that isn't their job in the first place.
"People call us wanting us to fix them and we can't," Rowe said. "All we are is the middle man."
Instead, the best way to report the outage is to skip the middle man, he said, and either call or fill out a request form for whichever power company your electric bill comes from.
Knowing the nearest intersection to the light will help, or a number from the lamp post. To contact Xcel Energy, call (800) 895-4999 or go to http://www.xcelenergy.com/outages_and_emergencies/report_outage, and to contact Poudre Valley REA, call (800) 432-1012 or go to http://www.pvrea.com/outages.
