Disabled American Veterans offer free rides for Greeley, Weld veterans
October 13, 2016
Greeley Chapter 8 of the Disabled American Veterans offers free van transportation for all U.S. military veterans from the Greeley/Evans area to the Cheyenne VA Medical Center in Wyoming.
The vans operate Monday through Friday except for federal holidays. Veterans should call (970) 310-1200 at least two days in advance to schedule a ride.
The DAV van leaves the Evans VFW Post, 3501 State St., at 7 a.m. and from there goes to the Greeley DAV, 1830 8th Ave., with pick-ups as needed to Greeley Manor, 1000 13th St.; Greeley Place, 1051 6th St.; the Guadalupe Shelter, 1442 N. 11th Ave.; and the towns of Eaton, Ault, Pierce and Nunn. The DAV van stays at the VA center until all veterans have completed their medical appointments or no later than 3 p.m. before returning to Greeley.
The Greeley DAV chapter is looking for volunteer drivers. DAV membership is not required to be a volunteer driver or to ride in the van.
Anyone interested in driving should contact DAV Greeley Commander Ralph Ellison at (970) 310-1200 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
