GOOD FOR YOU: Windsor sign company DaVinci Sign Systems, Inc wins two World Sign Association awards
October 8, 2016
Windsor-based architectural sign manufacturing firm, DaVinci Sign Systems, Inc. received two national awards last month during the 2016 World Sign Association Design Competition at the national conference in Memphis.
Davinci Sign Systems, 4496 Bents Dr., Windsor, took home the "Best in Show" award and placed first in the in the "Freestanding Sign" category.
The awards both recognize the company's work on a display project marking the corners of Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, according to a news release from DaVinci Sign Systems.
"Our internal group effort with design, fabrication, and installation really made this challenging project come together seamlessly," said DaVinci Sign Systems General Manager John J. Shaw." We are also extremely thankful to have the opportunity to work with the city of Boulder on this landmark project."
Davinci Sign Systems partnered with Vermilion Design, a Boulder design firm, to help bring their vision — illuminating six stone columns located in the heart of the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder — to life.
The preliminary concept was created by Vermilion but the construction of the columns was left to DaVinci's team. The task was to take large slabs of Colorado buff sandstone, split them in half, and design a interior frame to house LED lighting and glass panel inserts. The stones were hand cut and shaped with four different wave patterns on two sides of the stone.
