Letter to the Editor: Residents oppose asphalt plant

Residents oppose asphalt plant
We strongly object to a permanent site for asphalt/concrete plants at Hwy 257 and CR 80 ½.
Our objection is ongoing negative effects on nesting and migrating birds due to 12-to-24 hours heavy-construction operations located in an unsuitable 31-acre plat next to a critical irrigation canal.
We live in Soaring Eagle Ranch on Windsor Reservoir. As life-long birders, we chose the area because of its surrounding rural land and, more importantly, the environmentally protected area for nesting bald eagles, great horned owls, migrating sandhill cranes and white-faced ibis and many resident birds. Our neighborhood was built by well-known developer, Stan Everitt, and was designed specifically to fit into the surrounding rural and animal habitat area.
We and our neighbors have worked hard all our lives and saved up to live where we are now. Our views of stars are amazing with the darkness of Windsor Reservoir, and we love the birds nesting along the shoreline.
Please help us preserve our quality of life and the peace and quiet we enjoy.
