State Golf Roundup: Krantz finishes third in 4A meet
October 1, 2016
Windsor senior Cole Krantz was just a couple strokes shy of capping his prep boys golf career with a state championship Tuesday.
At River Valley Ranch, Krantz placed third in the Class 4A Boys Golf Championships, shooting a 3-under-par two-day total of 141 (70-71). It was his second third-place state meet finish to cap his high school career.
He was tied with the eventual winner, Discovery Canyon's Luke Trujillo, entering the final nine holes but was unable to keep pace with Trujillo and Silver Creek standout Jackson Solem, who won last year's title.
Trujillo and Solem each shot a 4-under two-day total of 140, forcing a one-hole playoff. Trujillo won in the second round of the playoff on Hole 9.
Disocovery Canyon also won the team title, shooting a 6-over team total of 438. Montrose was a distant second with a 21-over 453.
No Weld squad cracked the top 13 in the team standings.
