Veterans of Foreign Wars collecting donations for home starter kits for homeless vets
November 30, 2016
Veterans of Foreign Wars Pioneer Post 2121 and Volunteers of America are assembling home starter kits to benefit homeless veterans who find housing through Rocky Mountain Human Services and the Department of Veteran Affairs.
Project chairman Stan Graffis of VFW Pioneer Post No. 2121 said once homeless veterans find housing, filling their new homes can be difficult. That's why the Post came up with the idea of home starter kits, a program that began in September and serves as a resource to provide veterans with a table setting, cooking utensils, bathroom and laundry items, and other starter-home items. These kits are assembled by the VFW and given to Volunteers of America for distribution. An assembled kit costs about $50, so VFW is asking for the public's help in donations.
Those who wish to help sponsor a kit can send donations to: VFW Pioneer Post No. 2121, Home Starter Kit, Attn: Stan Graffis, chairman, 2514 7th Ave., Greeley CO 80631. For more information, call (970) 352-1028.
