Weld Democrats to hold 2018 county assembly

The Weld Democratic Party will hold its 2018 county assembly this Saturday.

Registration for the assembly begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at Northridge High School, 100 71st Ave. in Greeley. Meetings will convene at 9 a.m. According to a press release from the Weld Democratic Party, Chairman Jerad Sutton expects the assembly to adjourn by 2 p.m.

Weld meetings will designate candidates for the June 26 Democratic primary election. Local candidates for the Colorado House of Representatives include Rochelle Galindo and Jim Riesberg in House District 50, Gbenga Ajiboye in House District 48 and Brandon Bobian in House District 63. Other candidates for Weld offices include Carl Erickson for County Commissioner at-large, Suzie Velasquez for Clerk and Recorder and Phil Kelley for Senate District 13.

The Weld Democratic Party said there are currently no Democratic candidates for County Commissioner District 2, Sheriff or County Assessor. Any Weld Democrat interested in running for office to be designated at the county assembly should call the Weld County Democratic Party office at (970) 351-7047 or Sutton at (970) 217-1907.

After preference polls for governor and the 4th Congressional Representative, assembly attendees will elect delegates to the congressional district and state assemblies April 13 and 14 in Broomfield.
