Two Weld County teams garnered top seeds for this weekend's Volleyball Championships, scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Denver Coliseum. Six other Weld teams will be there, too.
The brackets were released Monday by CHSAA.
In Class 3A, defending champion Eaton has the top seed after going undefeated in the 3A Patriot League and 23-2 overall this season. No. 8 Sterling and No. 12 Coal Ridge round out pool 1.
Dayspring Christian enters the 2A event as the team to beat, having won all 25 matches; the Eagles have dropped just eight sets this season. They will face No. 8 Simla and No. 12 Union Colony. The Timberwolves (17-8) twice lost against the top-seeded Eagles in recent weeks. Dayspring swept Union Colony on Oct. 28 and Saturday. The Eagles also swept the Timberwolves on Sept. 29.
Fellow Patriot League powerhouse Valley will join Eaton in the 3A event. The Vikings (20-5) are the second seed and in pool 2. Platte Valley (12-13) also drew pool 2 as the No. 11 seed. No. 7 Middle Park completes the three-team group.
University rounds out the Patriot League contingent as the No. 4 seed. The Bulldogs (19-6) will face No. 5 Bayfield and No. 9 Pagosa Springs.
