NIWOT – The Windsor High School volleyball team improved to 7-1 in the Class 4A Northern Conference and 9-3 overall in a 25-16, 25-15, 25-15 victory over Niwot on the road Tuesday night.
Alexa Hardy led the way with 19 kills and Kellie Ash had 33 assists for the Wizards, who play host to Greeley West at 7 p.m. Thursday at Reg Figal Gymnasium.
“I think what was nice about tonight is that I had a couple of girls out of the lineup (Angie Pancost and Greta Zablackas),” Wizards coach LaVerne Huston said. “Morgan Shimp and Emily Ownby both started and both stepped up and did a really nice job of filling in some gaps there. Taylor Pribble had a very strong defensive effort for us, and Kellie Ash did a nice job of running the offense.”
Huston liked how her girls came back from last Thursday’s 3-2 loss to Longmont, its first loss in conference.
“We had a tough match last Thursday with Longmont, so it was nice to see us come back after dropping a very tough five-set match,” Huston said. “It was good to see the kids be able to refocus and come back and play a good solid match even with different kids out on the floor. The girls really stepped up and did a nice job.”
