Windsor letter carriers to take part in food drive Saturday
May 8, 2018
Donna Schruger and other letter carriers in Windsor will volunteer to collect non-perishable goods Saturday along their routes for the Windsor-Severance Food Pantry.
Schruger, the event organizer in Windsor, said the drive has been held in Windsor for more than 10 years, although the nation-wide Letter Carriers' Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, which Windsor's drive is a part of, has been held for 26 years.
The event is important, Schruger said, because although many people may donate to the food pantry during cold, winter months, sometimes people forget the food pantry needs donations to last through the summer as well.
Windsor residents can put canned goods or other non-perishables in a bag next to their mailboxes for letter carriers to pick up Saturday, or take the food to the Windsor Post Office, 215 6th St. For more information go to http://www.stampouthungerfooddrive.us or nalc.org/food.
