A Windsor Middle School student was hit by a car Friday morning just outside the school.
About 7:35 a.m. Friday, a parent of another student at the middle school struck a female student as she was crossing N. 8th Street by the middle school, Windsor Police Sgt. Chris Darcy said. The student was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies with non-life-threatening injuries.
Darcy said the incident involved a combination of events: The pedestrian was not paying attention, the driver was looking away and there's no crosswalk in that area.
"That's our prime time for school drop-offs," Darcy said. "So there's a whole lot of traffic, a whole lot of kids moving about."
The driver was issued a citation for careless driving, according to Darcy. He did not have the driver's name immediately available.
